I've been contemplating posting this, I figure what the heck.
This is not drumming related (there is some cool music though).

Recently my friend and I made a short film. It features a short chase scene around various Hollywood locations. We did it for fun and I have a moderate interest in filming/editing. We filmed for 2 days and I edited for another 2 maybe. Anyways.. I present:

Heh, u should have added Tool's "?nema", it's quite a fitting description of LA or "Hell A" in general IMO. Reflecting in the fact, we are literally drowning in confusion, anger, depression, apathy, laziness, blindness. etc. "Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA. The only way to fix it is to flush it all away". Bill Hicks was in truth a brilliant man in the guise of a comedian. He was a master at waving the painfully obvious in the face of America, then moving on to his most off-the-wall, crude, and below-the-belt imagery. Hicks certainly wouldn't be short on material if he were alive today. He's missed indeed.

Getting back on topic. Very nice work there tho, Steve. Out of curiosity have u taken any classes(studied), majored in this subject(Film). It's quite impressive work for an amateur I assume. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Bozzio, no I havent taken any classes but have made other clips. I think the Altered at the BP project really showed me the potential of what can be done. Generally speaking I'm a fan of (good) movies and like putting appropriate music to cool situations.
The tech available today is really insane. I can film, capture, edit, and export to DVD all digital with no quality loss at all. The DVD of THE CHASE looks great. BIll is actually thinking of making a website for the film, just for fun.

You nailed it Steve...the tech is AMAZING! I was in film school in the early 80's and it was literally a different world. The skills needed have really changed. The ability to create an interesting story (scene) remains the same. In fact, with the advancement of technology, the story has suffered (IMO). Combine the two (Toy Story, etc.) and you've got something hot. A buddy of mine shot an entire movie in two weeks (car chase flic) and shot in Burbank between 2-4 AM on San Fernando Road. This was a few years ago...today, the results would be far better, especially in the editing department. The car chase scene in "Against All Odds" is a good example of this type of film making, looking back at how it was made 20 years ago and how it could be made today. Fun stuff!
